COLLABORATION WITH THE ELHUYAR FOUNDATION IN THE ZIENTZIA AZOKA INITIATIVE
Throughout the 2017-2018 school year the UNESCO Chair is taking part in the Zientzia Azoka initiative run by the Elhuyar Foundation. The programme helps young people between 12 and 18 years old (in secondary education, baccalaureate or mid-level professional training courses) to develop scientific and/or technology projects, giving them an inside look at scientific research and technology development.
The overall goal is to promote scientific culture in society and to spark interest in science and technology issues among young people by encouraging them to discover the methodologies, working environments and professional activities relative to the sector. The experiences offered by the programme can have a long-term influence on their self-perception, on their future awareness as responsible citizens, and on their career paths. The initiative is aimed particularly at girls in view of the persistent gender gap in the sector.
