Schools and communities of practice

According to Hadot, philosophy as a way of life takes place in a school. There are at least three senses of “school” that might be meant: an actual institution, a broad community of practice, and “doxographical hypostatizations of discursive practices” (McClintock, in Fiordalis ed. 2018: 77), meaning philosophical positions identified for purposes of analysis and debate.
