IkerFESTS. Research project developed at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU.

The aim of this project is to analyze the map of film and tv/video festivals in the Basque Country. The territory covered by the study includes the autonomous communities of Euskadi and Navarre (in Spain) and the historical Basque regions in the department of Atlantic Pirinees (in France).

The main goal of the study is to make a cartography of festivals operating in this territory and creating a chronology to contextualise them historically according to their founding year.

Secondly, different festival identities have been identified, in order to classify festivals according to genre (documentary, fiction, experimental), cultural/geographical scope (e.g. cinema in Basque language), or theme (social issues, mountain, terror/fantastic), etc.
