Why moral ignorance does not excuse

Ilcli Open Seminar

Tuesday, November 22, 15:30

Nomy Arpaly (Brown University, USA)

Venue: Carlos Santamaria Zentroa, Room 1

Abstract

Some  hold  that  a  person  is  not  at  fault  for  doing something wrong if she honestly thinks that what she is doing  is  right.  I  would  like  to  argue  that thinking  that what you are doing is right is no excuse and that caring about  doing  the  right  thing,  if  interpreted  purely de dicto, is not particularly valuable.
