Violencia escolar entre adolescentes y sus implicaciones en el ajuste psicosocial: un estudio longitudinal School Violence between Adolescents and their Implications in the Psychosocial Adjustment: A Longitudinal Study

Abstract

En este estudio se analizan las implicaciones que las formas directas (agresiones
físicas o verbales) e indirectas (exclusión social, difusión de rumores) de violencia entre
compañeros tiene en el ajuste psicosocial de los adolescentes. Utilizando datos longitudinales,
se comparan los efectos de la violencia directa e indirecta en varios indicadores de ajuste
(autoestima, ánimo depresivo, estatus sociométrico y percepción del profesor). La muestra
estuvo constituida por 1.319 adolescentes en la primera administración de los cuestionarios
y por 554 en la segunda. Los resultados del estudio mostraron que los adolescentes que son
víctimas tanto de violencia directa como indirecta son los que muestran un peor ajuste psicosocial.
Además, se resalta la especial relevancia que las formas indirectas de violencia tienen
en el ajuste psicosocial de los adolescentes.

In this study it is analysed the implications of direct (physical or verbal aggressions)
and indirect forms (social exclusion, rumour spreading) of classmate violence in adolescents'
psychosocial adjustment. Using longitudinal data, it is compared the effects of direct and indirect
violence in some indicators of adjustment (self-esteem, depressive mood, sociometric
status, and teacher's perception). The sample was composed by 1319 adolescents at the first
application of the questionnaires and 554 at the second. Results of this study showed that adolescents
who are victims both direct and indirect violence have the worst psychosocial adjustment.
Also, it is highlighted the special relevance of indirect forms of violence in psychosocial
adjustment of adolescents.
