Expertise: endocrine disruption, reproduction, molecular biology and histopathology. Research stays at the Ctr Marine Biotechn of Baltimore, Univ Maryland (USA, 2001-2002; Prof. John M Tran); the Inter Res Instit Stavanger (2002-2003 and 2006); Univ Exeter (2011; Prof. Charles Tyler). Oceanographic campaign (2003) in the Mediterranean aboard l’Europe (IFREMER, France; BEEP project). Biological sampling campaigns in the Caribbean Sea (CARIBIOPOL 2011-2013; AECID). Supervisor: 1 post-doc, 1 PhD and 9 MSc Thesis. Research interest: application of biomarkers and biological effect parameters on aquatic organisms (both fish and invertebrates), especially those related with endocrine disruption; molecular, cellular and histological approaches to elucidate mechanisms of action of pollutants in fish and molluscs; molecular processes for sexual determination and differentiation in fish. He has participated in several European, national and regional granted projects and is IP of 1 MINECO project national and 5 regional projects. 35 ISI articles, 2 reviews, 3 book chapters, 2 national and 1 international patents and more than 60 contributions to international conferences. Plenary speaker in Sci Symp Toxicol Environ Hlth (Univ Panamá, 2012) and in Spanish Conf Endocrine Disruption (2013).
