Description and contextualization of the subject

This course focuses on energy certification and energy audits as useful tools for identifying potential opportunities aimed at improving energy efficiency in the building sector.

As far as certification is concerned, existing procedures for energy certification will be presented, both for new and existing buildings. European regulations in this field will be analyzed (namely, 2010/31/UE Directive and 2012/27/UE Directive), as well as the Spanish transposition of the European regulation framework (RD-235/2013 and RD-564/2017). Energy certification tools will be studied and used.

Regarding energy audits, the course will introduce the energy audits in the building sector, a methodology will be proposed, common instruments used in energy audits in buildings will be studied, and a method for the analysis and processing of energy data will be presented.

Learning outcomes of the subject

LO1. Familiarization with existing regulations and methodologies for energy certification in buildings, knowing their simplifications and limitations and acquiring basic notions for the use of official computer tools aimed at the certification of both existing and new buildings.

LO2. Have basic knowledge of the different tools and tests used in the assessment of building energy performance, as well as the methodology followed for carrying out energy audits.

Ordinary call: orientations and renunciation

The assessment methods will be based on an individual certification task that will be carried out during the last weeks of the course, as well as different individual short tasks related to energy audits that will be done during the course in the classroom.

Final mark: Certification task (50%) + Energy audits related short tasks (45%) + Attendance (5%)

RESIGNATION: In order to make the option of resignation effective, the student must let the course coordinator know by email before the end of the subject classes.

Extraordinary call: orientations and renunciation

In the event of failing the evaluation, the student has an extra opportunity to pass the course. In this extra call, the evaluation will be carried out by an exam, where the different aspects of the course will be evaluated.

RESIGNATION: In order to make the option of resignation effective in this call, it will be assumed when the student does not do the final exam.

Temary

In this course, a methodology is used that combines theoretical classes with practical classes. In this way, the students put into practice the theoretical knowledge through exercises, coursework, analysis of real cases and practical activities. The theoretical concepts are developed through lectures using presentations and teacher's notes as support. The necessary material will be available on the eGela platform.
