Arkaitz (Bilbao, 1979) studied Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (1997-2002). In 2003 he got his M.Sc and was granted with a PhD fellowship by the Basque Government. Along 2005, he was a 3-month PhD visiting student at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) under the supervision of Prof. Ben L Feringa. In November 2006 he finished his PhD studies at the UPV/EHU under the guidance of Prof. Esther Domínguez. In January 2007 he joined the research group of Prof. Carsten Bolm at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany) as a postdoctoral researcher funded by the Basque Government. On November 2008 he moved to the ICIQ (Tarragona) to work under the supervision of Prof. Ruben Martin as postdoctoral researcher. In May 2010 he joined the group of Prof. J. M. Lassaletta to work in a collaborative project with Bayer CropScience at the CSIC (Seville). From april 2011 to march 2014, he worked as a “"Juan de la Cierva"” researcher at the ICIQ in the group of Prof. Ruben Martin. In April 2014, Arkaitz started his independent career at UPV/EHU as a "Ramón y Cajal" fellow and in december 2019 he was tenured to Associate Research Professor. Recently, he has received the GEQO Young Scientist Award 2019 and the Thieme Chemistry Journal Award 2020. He is author of more than 50 scientific articles, 3 book chapters, two patents, and Guest Editor of a Book. In 2023, he has received the Research Professor distinction by Unibasq.
