The University of the Basque Country held an Institutional Act, on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day. The event, organized by the Directorate for Equality, had the participation of the rector of the University of the Basque Country, Nekane Balluerka Lasa, the first woman chosen by the university community to lead the UPV/EHU. In the institutional act, five women were honoured, each from a different knowledge area, for their long, brilliant and professional academic career: Nieves Aja, Mariaje Barandiaran, Jasone Cenoz, Victoria Fernández and Mª Jesús Otal.

Over a two-year-period a researcher in the UPV/EHU’s DREAM group analysed in depth the students’ language behaviour in a classroom at a school in Bizkaia, and the result is an ethnographic analysis of the inside of the classroom. The researcher regards it as a photograph of a specific moment and group, but it reveals very interesting data on the opportunities offered by multilingualism as well as on the position the Basque language needs to adopt. Eleaniztasunari probetxu pedagokikoa ateratzeko asmotan, hizkuntzen arteko harremanari buruz hausnartzen jardun zuten atzo hainbat adituk, nazioartekoak nahiz bertakoak, EHUko DREAM ikertaldeak antolatutako sinposioan. Translanguaging pedagikoa hezkuntzan aplikatzearen onurak eta kalteak aztertu zituzten.

La doctora Jasone Cenoz, del grupo DREAM, ha dado la lección inaugural en el acto solemne de apertura del curso 2017/2018 de la UPV/EHU.

EHUn, Hezkuntzaren Teoria eta Historia Sailean, aurkeztu zuen doktorego tesia ekainaren 22an ondoko izenburuarekin: Multilingualism in the workplace: the voice of professionals (Eleaniztasuna lantokian: profesionalen ahotsa). Van der Worp herbeheretarrak uste zuen, “herri elebiduna izanda” euskara eta gaztelania, biak erabiliko zirela enpresetan. Ingelesak ere harrituta utzi du: txikitatik ikasi bai baina lantokietan ez daude gustura langile berriek duten ingeles mailarekin.
