The doctoral students may join another reputable research group for a period of around three months to tackle a specific aspect of their doctoral thesis. This activity is particularly interesting as it offers the student the chance to acquire the International Doctorate qualification if the research stay takes place at a centre abroad. As regards financing, there are calls for funding from the Ministry (grants for university teachers and research staff), and from the Basque Government, as well as from the University itself.
