Description

These are intensive residential seminars lasting a week. They are conducted in English in an inter-disciplinary and multicultural environment. Forty researchers from each university, in their second year of doctoral training, receive extensive training designed for their future vocational integration in a socio-labour environment not exclusively linked to research at universities and/or public and semi-public centres. All the activities are dynamised by personnel specializing in the organization of doctorials and the facilitation of teamwork. The scheduled activities include visits to companies, research centres and cultural entities selected from both sides of the border, the testimonies of executive doctors and entrepreneurs and teamwork for the joint preparation of an innovative project which will be submitted at the end of the encounter. Participation in the doctorials is optional and does not entail any enrolment fee. All the maintenance, accommodation and transport costs will be financed by the organizing universities, with the help of the funding obtained from the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Aquitaine-Euskadi cooperation fund of the Basque government.

Results

The doctoral students acquire practical training in communication, innovation, teamwork, leadership and entrepreneurship. Based on the testimonies and experiences of different professionals working in companies and associations in the field of culture and language, as well as visits to companies and associations, the students come into direct contact with professional experience. These seminars have an inter-disciplinary approach, grouping the students together in units which combine different universities of origin and areas of knowledge. The experience should provide a wealth of knowledge about how to articulate a future professional project both in and outside the University.

Assessment systems

The whole procedure for the doctorials is overseen by a pedagogical cabinet, with professional advisers who will provide continuous feedback on the group activity and monitor the work done every day by the doctoral students. Once the latter have enrolled for the doctorials, attendance and active participation in the sessions is compulsory.

In particular it aims to: (1) Promote attendance and participation of doctoral students enrolled in the Programme in training activities taking place in other national or foreign universities or research centres relevant to the research contained in the Doctoral Programme and which may be of interest to trainee researchers. (2) To enable stays of more than one month and not exceeding six (except in cases where there is a prior agreement to conduct a part of the Thesis at the host research centre) in renowned foreign research centres, conducting research work relevant to their doctoral training and developing the doctoral thesis, and enabling them to enrich the line of research of the different research groups integrated

Results

Proving the ability to integrate and work in other groups. Exchanging knowledge and research results. Speaking in another language.

Assessment systems

Mobility should not imply an evaluation or control different to that established in each of the activities that require it, applying for each case the procedures described for training activities 3 or 5, as appropriate.

Description

Participation in seminars and / or talks organised by the group or research team of the doctoral students themselves, by other research groups, by a department or centre, by the Doctoral School, etc., where discussions are held by internal and external researcher guests. Among other activities, the national neuroscience course is held for doctoral students and recent post-doctoral students organised by the Pablo de Olavide University, which takes place every two years at its headquarters in Carmona. For each seminar or conference, structured analysis and synthesis exercises will be scheduled for students to develop in groups, discussion forums or individually in a report for each seminar to strengthen their critical thinking and writing capacity. Due to the special features of this programme and to obviate the geographical dispersion and allow a stable and inexpensive interaction, communication technology will be used, basically website and videoconference, to generate debate forums and international seminars, respectively. Before the start of the course each Institutional Coordinator shall provide to the Academic Committee a complete provisional list of the seminar schedule. The Academic Committee shall select, based on their educational interest, those it considers likely to be presented to the entire Programme by videoconference. These internodal seminars shall be given preference over intranodal seminars, although attendance and participation in both shall be mandatory and must be stated by the tutor in the student¿s record.
