PhD studies are aimed at advanced research training. New researchers are educated in the PhD programme to successfully tackle the challenge of knowledge generation and its transfer to society and productive sector.

The PhD programme on Electronics and Telecommunications trains specifically in the field of Information Technology and Communications as well as in the field of Power Electronics.

The research lines of this PhD programme are supported by the Institute of Microelectronics Technology (TiM) and several consolidated research groups of the Department of Communications Engineering and the Department of Electronic Technology, both located at the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao. Some of these research groups are:

- Applied Electronics Research Team (APERT)

- Signal and Communications Group (GSC)

- Applied Photonics Group (APG)

- Research Group on Telematics Engineering (I2T)

- BioRes, Bioengineering and Resuscitation (BioRes)
