Nombre:

Research group on Bioengineering and Resuscitation

Acrónimo: BIORES
Descripción:

The Research group on Bioengineering and Resuscitation (BioRes) is currently composed of 10 researchers, four full-time and 2 part-time teachers of the UPV/EHU and five pHD students. We are all telecommunication engineers, and our main research line is the application of Digital Signal Processing and Machine Learning to biomedical signals. In the last years our main field of application has been focused on improving treatment of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. We develop algorithms for the automatic extraction of parameters of interest from biomedical signals (ECG, Impedance, EtCO2, PPG, cerebral oximetry, …) recorded by monitor/defibrillators, and on the automatic identification and/or classification of pathologies or patient states.

Líneas de Investigación:
  • Algorithms to classify arrhythmias, primarily shock/no-shock decision algorithms in defibrillators.
  • Monitoring the quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Detection and prediction of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC)
  • Continuous automatic annotation of cardiac arrest episodes.
  • Clinical data mining for diagnosis and prediction
