Cristina Pizarro-Irizar is currently associate professor at the University of the Basque Country and associate researcher at the Basque Centre for Climate Change. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of the Basque Country (with honors and international mention). She also has a Master degree in Finance (Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros) and a Master degree in Economics (University of the Basque Country). Her research focuses on the economics of renewable energy, mainly in the analysis of the policies aimed at renewable energy support in Spain; energy efficiency and climate change policy. She has published her research in journals specialized in energy issues and her work has been presented at national and international conferences. She has been a visiting researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute (Germany) in 2014. She won the Student Best Paper Award in the 8th Conference of the Spanish Association for Energy Economics in 2013. She has been a member of the Board of the Spanish Association for Energy Economics (AEEE) from 2018 to 2022 and she is the Basque Country delegate of the Spanish Association of Energy Women (AEMENER).
