There are three main lines developed by the Group. In the first place the one that refers to the process of nationalization and what usually generatessuch dynamics, creating identities, development of nationalism, either of a state nature or its opposite, etc.  Within this perspective, the group favours an approach which makes the local rotation and the analysis of this process from the local point of view become a methodological tool aimed to enrich the analysis.

A second line is linked to the historical memory research and political violence, with a special emphasis on what the terrorism has meant in the Basque Country.

A third line, more generic , is linked, with the emphasis on social history from two different aspects: considering it as an epistemological tool set out to promote the research, and understanding it in a more classical sense and therefore encouraging further examination of the issues locked in this field.
