Presentación


Marcos Engelken-Jorge (1979, Santa Cruz de Tenerife) es profesor laboral interino en el Departamento de Ciencia Política y de la Administración de la Universidad del País Vasco-Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Es doctor (2008) por esta universidad, donde se licenció en Ciencias Políticas y de la Administración (2002), y Experto Universitario en Métodos Avanzados de Estadística Aplicada por la UNED (2006).
Ha desarrollado la mayor parte de su actividad profesional en la UPV/EHU; en los departamentos de Ciencia Política y de la Administración, como investigador predoctoral del Gobierno de Canarias e investigador posdoctoral, y en el Departamento de Sociología 2 como investigador contratado doctor. Ha sido, además, investigador visitante (2007) e investigador Marie Curie (2014-2017) en la Universidad Humboldt de Berlín.
Al margen del ámbito académico, Marcos ha colaborado con la cooperativa Iritziak Batuz en proyectos de participación ciudadana a nivel local y Europeo.
Sus líneas preferentes de investigación son la teoría política contemporánea, en particular la teoría deliberativa, y la sociología de la esfera pública.

Marcos Engelken-Jorge (1979, Canary Islands) is interim lecturer in the Department of Political and Administrative Sciences at the University of the Basque Country. He holds a PhD (2008) from this university, where he graduated in Politics (2002), as well as a postgraduate diploma in ‘Advanced Methods of Applied Statistics' from the Spanish University for Distance Education, UNED (2006).
Marcos has spent most of his academic career at the University of the Basque Country—in the Department of Political and Administrative Sciences as a postgraduate fellow, and a postdoctoral one, and in the Department of Sociology 2 as a postdoctoral researcher. He has also been visiting researcher (2007) and Marie Curie Fellow (2014-2017) at Humboldt University of Berlin.
Besides academia, Marcos has collaborated with the consultancy company Iritziak Batuz in a number of participatory projects at the local and European level.
His main areas of research are: contemporary political theory, with a special emphasis on deliberative democratic theory, and the sociology of the public sphere.
