Title: Majorana fermions in topological superconductors

Abstract

Recent developments show that the presence of Majorana fermions is feasible in many condensed matter systems. Among them are the systems in which Majorana modes appear as local quasiparticles at the interface between "exotic" materials, such as topological superconductors and insulators. Indeed, their existence can be related to topological invariants, and it seems that it is a mark for different topological phases.
