Biography

Nora Aranburu (ORCID: 0000-0001-5730-9867), PhD in Polymer Science, UPV/EHU and POLYMAT Assistant Professor, Department of Polymers and Advanced Materials: Physics, Chemistry and Technology.

Research

Her research is focused on the development of new materials based on polymer blends and nanocomposites by melt processing, establishing processing-structure-properties relationships. Recently, she has extended her interest into the development of bio-polymers with advanced performance, aiming for the eventual replacement of the conventional petrochemical polymers.

Dr. Aranburu has extensive experience in the processing and thermal, morphological and mechanical characterization of polymeric materials. This includes the use of standard equipment employed in processing (extruders and injection and compression moulding machines), as well as several characterization techniques: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical-thermal analysis (DMA), melt flow index (MFI), mechanical tests (tension, compression, bending, impact tests), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the determination of electrical conductivity...

Publications

She has published 19 papers in international peer reviewed journals, more than 20 contributions in national and international conferences and she has participated in 8 research projects funded by several institutions (UPV/EHU, Basque Government, MINECO, European Community).
