The Master’s Degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (TCCM) offers advanced, specialised and multidisciplinary training in theoretical and computational chemistry. It is designed for students who want to understand molecular systems through theoretical methods and computational techniques, and to develop the skills needed for research or professional work in computational molecular sciences.
The master’s degree is an interuniversity programme jointly organised by 17 universities. At EHU, the programme is supported by the Kimika Teorikoa (KT) research group at the Faculty of Chemistry in Donostia–San Sebastián.

Why study TCCM?
The programme provides a strong foundation in the use and development of computational techniques for molecular sciences. It is particularly suited to students interested in:
- Theoretical chemistry and molecular modelling.
- Computational approaches to chemical and materials problems.
- Research involving the development or application of molecular simulation methods.
- Further doctoral studies in chemistry, physics, biology or materials science.
- Professional opportunities in innovative industries, including pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and new materials.
As an interuniversity master’s degree, TCCM brings together expertise from participating universities. The programme also encourages collaboration and teamwork.
TCCM and Kimika Teorikoa at EHU
The Kimika Teorikoa (KT) group provides academic and research support for TCCM students at EHU. Its research includes electronic structure, chemical bonding, aromaticity, metal clusters, surfaces and catalysis, using theoretical and computational approaches.
Studying TCCM at EHU offers an opportunity to engage with a research environment focused on computational chemistry. Students interested in research projects or a subsequent PhD can contact the group to discuss possible directions and supervision opportunities, subject to availability and the relevant academic procedures.
Research and career opportunities
TCCM is designed both as preparation for doctoral research and as specialised training for scientific and industrial careers. Computational methods play an increasingly important role in molecular science, materials research and industrial research and development.
Graduates may pursue further study or seek positions in research organisations and industries where modelling and simulation are central to understanding and designing chemical systems.
