MethodologyToggle Navigation

During each exercise development we can distinguish different types of activities to work during the in-person classes:

1 Prefaces: classes addressed to fix the main ideas of the project and are mainly prop on the explanation of architectural examples.

2 The workshop: is the main activity of the subject, which is done by single or group work. The review of the design development will be made in general on the desk and are addressed to a single student.

3. Group work: The studio drawings and renderings of the site of the project will be done by a limited group. Additionally the days devoted to the “taller integrado” (integrated workshop) shared with other subjects, will be probably made in groups and all the issues will be devoted to the issue of the second part of the academic year.

4 Public review: the public review will be made on the blackboard or made by beamer on the screen, is devoted to fix general concepts and, at a time, broadcast to the whole of the students explanations and suggestions about the project.

5 Final public release: All the projects will be presented in public to the classmates. By this the different solutions will be shared and known by all the students, opening the possibility of a debate.

6. Virtual tuition: whenever live tuition is not available it will be held through blackboard collaborate app within the virtual classroom. Previously, this situation will be announced through the same platform.

On the non-in-person class hours, at the beginning of the work, each student will work in groups, searching for documentation and drawing the site of the project. Later on each student will develop the project by himself, drawing sketches up to the final architectural plans to be submitted. The whole of drawings are the presentation and material for reviewing with the professor in the in-person class hours.

The practical contents P.01 and P.02 will be held during 5 weeks and the practical contents P.03 and P04 will occupy ten weeks.

Assessment systemsToggle Navigation

The continuous appraisal is done over the projects developed during the term, which means the engagement of the student to conclude and delivery of all the works, to be eventually graded. If any of the exercises is not delivered or unfinished, the mark will be: Not Delivered. In the case of a hand over out of time, the last option to submit the exercise will be the submission date for the very last exercise of the term.

The students may opt to waive the final mark to get a Not delivered, the deadline for this is, at least, ten days before exams period.

For the final appraisal the attendance will be taken into account, as well as the workshop review, due to the practical role of the subject. The attendance, the review and edit of the projects, are esteemed necessary to get a right learning of the subject.

For the continuous appraisal, the students progress will be take into account, furthermore, the quality of main exercise of the term, which percentage account into the final mark is seminal.

Minimum Mark: the student need a minimum final mark of 5, of a total of 10 points; to pass the academic year/term.

Justified exceptions: The student who could not afford to deliver the works, because a justified cause, will have an extra, but limited, date to deliver his work, once finished the term. This date will coincide with the date to review the marks.

APPRAISAL SYSTEM

Continuous Appraisal System

The evaluation will be done over the single and group work. In both will be taken into account the following criteria; first, the adaptation of the project to the requirements of the exercise, second, the level of development and definition of the work, and third, the quality of the graphics and drawings. Also will be taken into account the ability of the student to improve his design after the reviews.

The evaluation of the second part of the term is higher, due to the more difficulty of the projects and targets, and also because of the longer duration. The exercises of the 1st part mean a 30% of the mark, P.01 and P.02; meanwhile the second part, P.03 and P.04, means the 70 %.

Assessment percentages: Personal work 85%, Team work 15%

Final assessment procedure.

Students may choose a final mark instead of the continuous assessment, but

must be correctly justified. To do this is compulsory to:

1.Send a written and justified resignation communication why quitting

the continuous assessment, before the 9th week, included, from the

beginning of the term following the School of Architecture calendar.

2.Submit all the projects work developed during the term before the

exam. The format will be the as asked by exercise and will be explained and

presented by the student to the professor.

3.Do the exam as fixed by the school of architecture (classroom,

date, schedule, etc.). The student will attend the exam at the School of

Architecture.

Virtual Assesment.

Whenever live tuition is not available, in case of any health emergency, the same live tuition assesment criteria to be applied

Compulsory materialsToggle Navigation
