1. Seminar Room

Seminar Room

The first room of the Museum is devoted to teaching. Here classes, seminars and classroom practices of medicine and nursing students are given. Scientific sessions as conferences, round tables, symposiums, etc., are regularly organized. The room has also been used for theses defenses, dissertations and other public presentations. In the 200 scientific sessions that have been held, notable figures such as Caro Baroja, Barandiarán, Ajuriaguerra, Barriola, Villasante, Granjel, Monreal, Charritton, Cid, Thillaud, Gourevitch, etc., participated in this forum.

The room hosts a large library of medical and science history. It is suitable as Reading Room for researchers and specialists, who come to consult its content.

Among the exhibits in this room, the personal microscopes of Doctors Toledo, Axpe, Laffita, Corral, Feijo, Posse, etc., stand out. We also emphasize the surgical kits of the early and mid 19th century, as well as the ophthalmologic and urologic surgical equipments of Doctors Epalza and Guimón from the early 20th century.

The ancient libraries, bookcases and glass cabinets, enhance the appearance of this room devoted to the great researcher Julio Caro Baroja (1914-1995).
