The challenge of decarbonizing thermal installations in the energy rehabilitation of buildings

Meeting Room I - Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao, Building II - I
Rafael Moreno Pitxitxi 3. -48013- Bilbao (Biscay)

With this conference, the aim is to discuss the importance of accelerating the energy transition and the role played by technicians, as protagonists, in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

The imminent modification of the Energy Efficiency of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the consequences that this text will have on the sector of thermal installations and the legal system in the field of rehabilitation, arouses special interest regarding the development of the strategy of energy rehabilitation that is planned in the short term.

The rehabilitation solutions for each installation are varied, depending on the starting state, the location and use of the building and the chosen energy vector, and the energy saving and efficiency certificates must ensure the implementation of the most appropriate technology in each case.

The impact of the increase in the prices of the energy supply will be decisive in the decision making of the projected rehabilitation strategy. For this reason, with this conference we want to discuss whether these solutions will be enough and whether they will arrive on time.
