Abstract: Based on Elizabeth Noelle-Neumann's silence spiral theory, we have analysed the perception that Basque citizens have of two Basque political issues, as well as the role played by the media in such perception. These issues are the question of the Basque language and the supposed talks carried out between ETA and the Spanish government. The research methodology has been based on the analysis of the contents of the media and the survey carried out among citizens.
