After graduating in Medicine I worked between 1991-93 in the CSIC in Madrid. Between 1993-94 at Univ. De Colima, Mexico, I carried out the experiments of my doctoral thesis that I defended in 1996 at the UPV / EHU (Extr. Doctorate Award).
In 1996 I started the Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab (Consolidated Group GV) in the Faculty of Medicine in Leioa until 2010, when we entered the newly created Lascaray Research Center in Vitoria-Gasteiz. We have received continued competitive funding from the UPV / EHU; GV; FIS; and Ministry of Science.
Full Professor since 2001, I made stays at the University of Valladolid; University of Utah; and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. I currently maintain collaborations with USA, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Spain.
With an h index of 20, I have published more than 50 international articles with impact, more than 50% of them Q1 / D1, cited 2200 times.
We belong to two EU COST Networks (BM1406; CA16225) and the Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Network. Member of the Biophys. American Soc; WG on Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology of Soc. Eur. Cardiol .; Spanish Network of Ionic Channels; Soc. Esp. Physiological Sciences; and Alavesa Academy of Medical Sciences.
As a teacher, Agote Award for the publication of scientific texts and student satisfaction surveys always above 4 out of 5. Member of the Board of the Pharmacy Faculty, of the Economic Commission of the Faculty and for 20 years member of the Board of the Dept. of Physiology.
