Degree in Economics and Business Studies (1988), Actuary (1988), PHD in Economics and Business Studies (1996) Extraordinary Prize from the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Lecturer since 1989. He has been Deputy Director of the Institutional Quality Service (2003-2010), Academic Secretary of the Financial Economics I Department (2013-present), member of the University Committee on Teacher Assessment (2014-2023), Academic Director of the Master in Actuarial and Financial Sciences (2018-present).
He is the main researcher of Social Welfare Research Group, a unit associated with Polibienestar (Institute of Social Welfare Policies), participates in the Consolidated Research Group of the Basque Government-A CLIOBASQUE. He has directed 6 doctoral Theses (2 extraordinary prize and 1 international prize). Lecturer at other universities and he has collaborated in more than 25 research projects.
His scientific production includes more than 75 scientific articles, 150 publications (books, book chapters, conference proceedings and technical documents) and nearly 160 contributions to national and international Congresses. He is reviewer of national and international scientific journals. His lines of research focus on public pensions, social security, including Social Security, LTC and pension plans, and on the application of actuarial-based linear programming models through immunizing techniques.
