Master in Chemistry (1975) and PhD in Industrial Chemistry (1979) at the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU), both awarded with Extraordinary Mention. Since 1988 Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST, UPV/EHU). Vice-Rector for Research at UPV/EHU (1996-2000) and Dean of the FST, UPV/EHU (2000-2006). Visiting Professor at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (USA), Slovak Technical University (Bratislava) and University of Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Over 250 papers published in JCR journals, related to chemical engineering and catalysis, including environmental protection and energy production (Researcher ID: B-3749-2013; ORCID: 0000-0002-8679-1805). Over 500 contributions and invited lectures to congresses and workshops. Awarded with “Burdinola 2000” prize for relevant contributions to environmental reactor design and with “Euskoiker 2011” award for strengthening university-industry cooperation in the Basque Country. Associate editor of Chemical Papers (ISSN: 0366-6352) by Springer-Verlag. Auther of the textbook “Cinética Química Aplicada”.
Scientific Societies Executive duties: Secretary of International Association of Catalysis Societies (IACS, 1996-2000), Dean of Chemist Profesional Association of the Basque Country (2002-06), President of Spanish Society of Catalysis (2006-13), Spanish representative at the Council of European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCAT, 2007-19).
