Full professor in English Language and Linguistics. BA in Germanic Philology (U. Santiago de Compostela), MA in TESOL and Linguistics and Ph.D. in Linguistics (The University of Iowa). She has been responsible for Ph. D. programs at the UPV/EHU (1998-2013) and is the director of the MA in Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings. Director of the research group Language and Speech (http://www.laslab.org, Group A in the Basque university system). Editor of the journal Language Teaching Research (Q1). Member of the executive committee of AILA and international relations representative of AESLA (2011-2017). Assessor for ANEP and ANECA. Coordinator of Language and Linguistics in the Spanish Research Agency (2016-2019). She is currently the Head of the English, German and Translation and Interpretation Department. Member of the Steering Committee of the Spanish Research Agency.
She has numerous publications on the acquisition of L2/L3 English morphosyntax and on conversational interaction in EFL in highly ranked journals and prestigious publishing companies. She has been awarded four six-year research periods by the corresponding Spanish Agency. She has supervised 13 Ph.D. theses (5 with extraordinary Ph.D. mention, 5 with international mention) and has been a plenary speaker at Asian, European and Northamerican universities.
