He holds a degree in Spanish Philology from the University of Deusto (1986) and a PhD in Spanish Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid (1993). He is a Full Professor in Spanish Literature and a specialist in Contemporary Spanish Literature and researches fundamentally in 20th century Spanish poetry and his relationships with culture and society (intertextuality, poetry and history and poetry and ideology, political commitment and social poetry, etc.), although he has also worked on contemporary theater, avant-garde and current narrative, and other topics. He is the author of more than twenty books and more than one hundred articles in national and international publications, as well as in collective books. He is responsible for editions of works by Juan Ramón Jiménez, Miguel Mihura, Felix Grande, Diego Jesús Jiménez and Luis Alberto de Cuenca, among others. Professor at the UPV / EHU since 1994, he teaches in Bachelor and Master, and has been guest professor and lecturer in several national and foreign universities.
