Irantzu Mendia Azkue is Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology and Social Work of the UPV/EHU, with affiliation to the Faculty of Labor Relations and Social Work-Alava Section (Vitoria-Gasteiz). She has a degree in Sociology (1998), a postgraduate degree in International Humanitarian Action (1999) and in Conflict Resolution (2003), and a PhD in Development Studies from the UPV/EHU (2013), with the international thesis entitled: Post-conflict peacebuilding: divergences between women's organizations and international cooperation in El Salvador and Bosnia-Herzegovina. She teaches in the Degree in Social Work, in the following subjects: Community Social Work (3rd), Design and Evaluation of Social Projects (3rd) and Curricular Practices (4th). She is a researcher at Hegoa, Institute of Studies on Development and International Cooperation of the UPV/EHU, and is part of the Research Group on Human Security, Local Human Development and International Cooperation (2016-2021) of the Basque university system (IT1037-16). Her axis of interest is the feminist analysis of armed conflicts, peacebuilding, transitional justice and historical memory, topics on which she has several publications (see CV attached). She has developed field work in the following countries: El Salvador, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Guatemala, Colombia and Western Sahara.
