Eduardo Bidaurratzaga Aurre has a degree in Economics and a PhD in Applied Economics from the UPV/EHU. He works as a professor in the Department of Applied Economics I at the same university. He obtained the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the UPV/EHU in the 2003-04 academic year. He is a professor attached to HEGOA (Institute of Studies on Development and International Cooperation), where he has carried out a multitude of activities related to teaching, research and management. He has been co-director of the online Master in Strategies, Agents and Policies of Development Cooperation offered by HEGOA Institute from the 2007-08 course until 2013-14. Currently, he is the director of the official Master in Globalization and Development at the UPV/EHU.



He teaches in various postgraduate programs from other Spanish universities on issues such as international economics, development, cooperation and African studies. He is currently General Secretary of the World Economic Society (SEM). He is also a member of the GEA (Group of African Studies) and the GETEM (Study Group on the Transformations of the World Economy), both in the Autonomous University of Madrid.



He has worked on research topics related to regional integration, development policies and development cooperation, mostly focused on sub-Saharan Africa, and with special emphasis on human development, health, education, extractive resources and trade and investment treaties.
