Amaia Altuzarra Artola received her PhD. Degree in Economics (2003) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and her Master Degree in Public Administration and Public Policy (1990) from The London School of Economics and Political Science (London University). She is associate professor in the Faculty of Economics and Business at the UPV/EHU since 1993.

She is the author and co-author of more than 30 scientific articles. She has been book editor and co-author of serveral books and book chapters. He has participated in more than 90 international and national conferences. Her main research interests include labor market, innovation and technological change, housing market and gender economy. She has been visiting researcher at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) and at the University of Nevada (Reno) in 2010 and 2013, respectively. She has participated in European, national and regional projects, having been part of more than 40 research projects and R & D contracts with companies and public administrations.

She is president of the Association of Regional Science of the Basque Country and Navarra since 2014 and member of the Executive Board of the Spanish Association of Regional Science since 2012. She has been evaluating the Docenciaz Program since 2017. Since 2018, she has been coordinator of the Structured Teaching Team GEATICs. She serves as referee for many scientific journals.
