Beatriz Plaza is Professor of Economics at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, EMBA by IESE Business School and a B.A. in Economics from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (Spain). She has taught Urban and Regional Economics, Cultural Policy as Development Policy for PhD students, Economic Integration for Master's Students, Short-term Economic Policy, and International Economics. She was visiting Professor at the London School of Economics LSE, at the University of Manchester (School of Environment, Education and Development), Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), University of Oldenburg (Germany), Sibelius Academy- Uniarts Helsinki, SDA Bocconi, EMTA Tallinn.
Professor Plaza's research focuses on Cultural Infrastructures as Economic Engines. She has contributed to the visualization/impact of Culture-led Global Repositioning of Cities. Her research has been published in Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, European Planning Studies, Journal of Cultural Heritage, among others.
She is member of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) and the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI).
