Graduate in Physics (1990), Master's degree in Electronics (1992), Master's degree in Radiocommunications (1993), with an award for best project of the Master's degree, and PhD in Physics (1999) by UPV/EHU. His doctoral thesis on optical fibers received the extraordinary PhD prize. Since 1995, lecturer or associate Professor of the Dep. of Communications Engineering (associate Professor since 2003). He has taught more than a dozen subjects with contents in circuit analysis, optical communications, linear networks and systems, microwaves, antennas, signals and systems, etc. He currently teaches the subject titled "Circuit Analysis" in the Telecommunications Technology Engineering degree and the one titled "Optical Communication Systems" in the Telecommunications Engineering master's degree. He has participated in educational innovation projects, and he is utilizing the obtained results to improve his lectures in the degree of Engineering in Telecommunications Technology.



He has also worked in the research group called "Applied Photonics Bilbao" since it started with only two people in 1993. This group is currently considered a group of excellence and it collaborates with world-renowned research centers (more information in our webpage http://appliedphotonicsbilbao.org/). In addition, he has published numerous research papers of great importance. Currently, he has completed four renowned six-year research periods.
