Once obtained the Bachelor`s degree in Physics, I began teaching in 1998 and obtained my PhD in 2001 at the UPV/EHU, by developing a doctoral thesis on the use of fractional order retention circuits in digital control systems. Currently, I am giving my lectures in the Bachelor`s Degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation and in the Master in Advanced Electronic Systems of the UPV / EHU, as full professor, attached to the Department of Electronic Technology. My subjects are mainly focused on the rapid prototyping for control systems and hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems.

In research, I have maintained interest in the use of special retention algorithms to improve the performance of hybrid control system. More recently, I have been working on vibrations in mechanical systems. Since 2004, I have supervised four PhD on both lines of research. Currently, I am focused on studying the practical implementation, on industrial control platforms, of model-based predictive control systems (MPC) for industrial applications of high economic interest. These applications are specifically dedicated, on the one hand, to attenuate structural loads in large wind turbines and, on the other hand, to mitigate regenerative vibrations -chatter- in high-capacity machining centers. I am the author or co-author of 49 research publications. Finally, I have taken part as a researcher in 5 R & D contracts with companies, with which I am currently maintaining research projects.
