Graduate (1984) and Doctor (1989) in Physical Sciences from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, with a Master in Nutrition and Applied Dietetics (2003) from the University of Granada. He has worked as a teacher at the UPV/EHU since 1983. He has been a full professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics since 1992. He currently teaches the subjects of Algebra and Statistical Methods of Engineering (among others assigned to the Department) at the School of Engineering of Bilbao EIB/BIE. He has participated in 40 research projects. He has published around 30 articles in magazines, 70 in congresses and 10 books. His main areas of interest are: educational innovation based on evaluation and action-research, project-based learning, controllers in epidemic models, adaptive systems in the presence of noise and non-modelled dynamics, dynamic systems with delays and hybrids, sequential injection analysis, interconnected bilinear dynamic systems, aperiodic sampling. It actively participates in the Department and Center management processes.
