Julen Zorrozua graduated and had a doctorate in Geography and History from UPV/EHU. Nowadays, he belongs to the Department of History of Art and Music at the same university where he teaches “Sources of history of Art”, “History of Baroque art” or “Historic Avant-garde” to students of the Degree in Art, as well as, those of the University for Adults. His line of research has been focused on Baroque art in Biscay and the Basque Country, more specifically Baroque altarpieces and imagery, following his subject of his thesis on Baroque altarpieces in Biscay. Apart from that, other areas of investigation have been related to Romanist altarpieces, engraved sources, devotional pictures and pictorial series e.g. that of the Virgin of Guadalupe. He is also the author of different manuals dealing with Renaissance Art in Alava, Neoclassical altarpieces in Biscay or Scenes of the Passion of Christ and their imagery at the Holy Week in Biscay. He has approached to the subject of Artistic Patronage during 17th and 18th centuries. Finally, he is a member of CEHA and Basque Studies Society but also belongs to the evaluation board of different art magazines, as well as, consulting and cooperating partner for diverse restoration workshops and investigation and catalogation for the Diocesan Museum of Religious art of Bilbao.
