Degree in Hispanic Philology, University of Deusto, and PhD in Theory of Literature and Hispanic Literature, University of California San Diego (1995). Professor at California State University (1997-2005). Guest professor at Miami University, University of Nevada, El Colegio de México and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Guest speaker at different international universities. She has been director of Graduate Studies at California State University, and various governing positions. Directed doctoral theses both at UPV and at California State University or University of Mexico.

She is IP of the Gender-Exile research group. Member of the Consolidated Research Team A of the Basque Government IT1199-19. Member of the research team Gender pedagogies. IISUE, UNAM. 2 Sexenios (2013). He directs the Postcolonial Transatlantic Studies project in the Anthropos publishing house. Her publications focus on the current relationship between literature and global hegemonic cultures and ideologies. Author of eight monographs, including Women intellectuals. From the Second Republic to the Exile, National Research Prize 2002, She has coordinated a dozen volumes and published numerous international articles on gender studies and literature, Narratology, Mexican and Chicano literature and border culture. Among her works of fiction, stands out Ciudad Final.
