Andoni Ramirez-Garcia is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology, Microbiology and Parasitology at the UPV/EHU, where obtained his doctorate with Outstanding Cum laude in 2009. He is also member of the commission of Biotechnology degree as coordinator of the 2nd course.
His research lines are focused on immunology and microbiology and, specifically, in the host-pathogen interaction and virulence factors of pathogenic fungi. Over the last 5 years, he published more than 15 articles, most of them being classified as Q1. He has also submitted more than 100 communications to congresses, being invited speaker in some of them. In addition, he participated in the obtaining of three patents and a large number of research projects.
He has supervised three doctoral thesis, one of them awarded with the extraordinary prize of doctorate, and several masters and final degree projects. Currently, he is supervising another 4 PhD students.
He was also member of the organizing committee of the National Mycology Congress (Bilbao, 2014), the Workshop of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM) on Scedosporium Infections (Bilbao, 2016) and the 1st Mikrobiogune: Basque Microbiology meeting (Bilbao, 2018).
He usually acts as reviewer for international journals and as jury of several doctoral, final degree´s and master's thesis. He is member of the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM), the Spanish Association of Mycology (AEM), and ISH
