He holds a degree in Computer Science from the UPV / EHU (1985) and a PhD from the University of Aberdeen (1992). He has been a University Professor at the Faculty of Computing at the UPV / EHU since 2000.
He leads the ONEKIN research group (group A of the Basque University System). He has directed 19 doctoral theses (9 with European mention). He has been principal researcher of 6 projects of the “Plan Nacional”, and of 10 projects with companies supported by Competitive Programs.
He is coauthor of more than 100 scientific articles with over 3o00 references according to Google Scholar. It has 5 “sexenios” recognized by the CNEAI. His current lines of research include Software Product Lines, Tools for Design Science Research, and Web Annotation Technologies.
