Jose A. Lozano is full professor in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and scientific director of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics. His research experience dated more than 25 years. His research interests focus on machine learning, heuristic optimization and its application to different scenarios in biology, medicine and ecology, to name a few. Jose A. Lozano has published more than 120 JCR papers which has received about 12000 citations (google scholar) for an h-index of 43, has supervised 20 PhD thesis (6 of them has received the university award), and has been the IP of research projects for more than 2M€ . Jose A. Lozano is a member of the editorial board of the main journals of the field such as la IEEE Trans. on Neural Networks and Learning Systems and IEEE Trans. on Evolutionary Computation. In addition he has contributed to the most important congress of the field as for example, being the general chair of IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Compuation 2017
