His teaching and research work is located in the Computer Science Faculty of San Sebastian. He is part of the ISG (Intelligent Systems Group) research group. His teaching subjects, even in BsC and MsC levels, are related to data mining, machine learning and big data analysis.
Main basic research keywords: machine learning, big data analysis, weakly supervised classification, Bayesian networks.
His research has been applied in fields such as environmental sciences, meteorology, oceanographics, bioinformatics, industry.
He has co-supervised 8 international PhDs.
He has participated in european, national and regional research projects. Examples of project partners are AZTI-Tecnalia, BioDonostia, Ertzaintza - Basque Police, CIC Biogune, Gaiker, etc.
Participation in contracts with companies such as Mutualia, EUSTAT, Progenika Biopharma, meteoBit...
