Joseba Makazaga studied the Bsc Degree in Informatics in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in the period 1984-89. Later he worked in the private industry as programmer-analyst (1989-92) and returned to the university as lecturer in the Computer Engineering Faculty of UPV/EHU. He defended his PhD in Donostia in 2007 under the direction of A. Murua. The title was Global and Local Error Analysis in the Integration of Ordinary Differential Equations with Explicit Runge-Kutta Methods.



He is member of the department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and he has been teaching several subjects in the Bsc. in Informatics Engineering: Graph Theory, Computer Graphics, Numerical Computation, Scientific Computation...



MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS:



Homotopy and continuation methods to solve equation systems, Geometric Integration, time scale analysis of the integration process, order conditions of numerical integration methods, contruction of numerical integration methods...



He collaborates with Ander Murua (UPV/EHU) and he is member of the Group on Applied Mathematical Modeling, Statistics, and Optimization, directed by David Pardo (Ikerbasque), He has collaborated in several publications with the groups of J.M. Sanz-Serna (universidad de Valladolid - UVA), with F. Casas (Universidad Jaume I of Castellon), S. Blanes (Universitat Politecnica de Valencia - UPV), P. Chartier (INRIA, Rennes) and J. Laskar ( Observatoir de Paris and CNRS).
