She obtained a Basque Philology Degree in 1987 (UPV/EHU) and a PhD in Linguistics in 1995 (Universität Hamburg, Germany). She has been a Senior Lecturer at the UPV/EHU since 2001, initially in the Spanish Philology Department and since 2004 in the Linguistics and Basque Studies Department.
From 2017 to 2018 she was head of Linguistics and Basque Studies Department.
She was visiting scholar (short-term stages) at several universities such as U. Reno, U. Hamburg and U. Cambridge.
Since 2016 she has been head of the research group ELEBILAB ‘Laboratory of Bilingualism’ (UPV/EHU) in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Research interests: lexical and grammatical development in early typical (and atypical) language acquisition, language contact in early and late bilingualism.
