This doctoral programme offers research training in chemistry that is conducive to the preparation of a doctoral thesis.
The research topics include the molecular or microscopic properties of the (bio)chemical and physical systems we are interested in, and they are studied using theoretical and experimental methods. This entails using lasers and other energy sources, applying state-of-the-art technologies and quantum mechanics methodologies.
The programme offers the following lines of research:
- Study of biomolecules using laser and microwave spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.
- Interaction of ultra-short laser pulses with molecules.
- Synthesis and characterisation of nanostructures and aerosols.
Apart from the process of tutoring the research work itself, the doctoral programme also considers additional training activities.
The programme is organised by the Department of Physical Chemistry at the UPV/EHU, where most of the teaching and research staff on the programme work. It also includes teachers from other departments.
