Ph D in Science by the Univ Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain (1991).

Research positions: Ikerbasque Research Prof and Visiting Prof at the Plentzia Marine Station (UPV/EHU, Spain (2012-current). Visiting Prof (Univ Tromso Norway, 1999-2019); Profesora de Investigación (CSIC; Spain, 2009-2012, on leave). Research Group leader at SINTEF, (2001-2009) and NOFIMA Marine (1991-2001), Norway.

Other: Contributor to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda of the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATIP) and Elected Member of its Board of Directors (2012-current).

Expertise: seafood safety, quality, authenticity, marine nutrients and hazards, fast detection and monitoring methods, development of systems engineering approaches to fisheries, aquaculture and environmental monitoring. Effects on them of climate change.

Publications: 94 scientific indexed publications 128 presentations to Conferences.

Research projects led: about 6 mill€.

Teaching: Responsible for “Environment and fisheries aquaculture interactions & fish wellbeing and seafood safety” of the Master Progs MER and IMBRSea (2019-to date); and for "Seafood Quality and Animal Welfare", MER. (2013-2018). All of them are Erasmus Mundus European Prog. Responsible for the subjects Food Safety, BIO-3607 and BIO-3608 (Univ. Tromsø, 1999-2019).
