In 1987 he obtained the title of Industrial Engineer specializing in mechanics at the Higher Technical School of Industrial and Telecommunications Engineers in Bilbao. In 1991 after defending the doctoral thesis, he obtained the title of Doctor in Engineering.

In 1988 he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an associate professor and in 1994 he obtained the position of Associate Professor.

In 2013 he obtained the accreditation of Full Professor.



He currently teaches at the School of Engineering of Bilbao in the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology Engineering, the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and the Master's Degree in Aeronautical Technologies.



The main topics of his research work refer to: analysis by the finite element method, optimization techniques, genetic algorithms, computational fluid dynamics, simulation of the behaviour of mechanisms and multibody systems, noise and vibration analysis, vehicle dynamics , and study of wear in dies and improvement of the hot stamping process.

He has directed several doctoral theses and he is currently collaborating in various research projects funded by national and regional institutions.



He belongs to various scientific societies: SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), SEMNI (Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering), AEIM (Spanish Association of Mechanical Engineering) and ASEPA.
