Dr. Jon Montalbán is assistant professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), within the Electronic Technology Department, since the academic year 2016/2017. He has also been member of the TSR research group since 2009, where he has been working with projects related to the digital wireless broadcasting systems. During 2012, he was a guest researcher at CRC (Canada). He also was postdoc researcher during 2019 at Dublin City University (Ireland). In short, during the last years he has been:



- Author of more than 20 publications in international journals, more than 40 contributions to international conferences and invited speaker to two conferences and international workshops.

- Awarded with the best conference paper in the IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting.

- Awarded with the 2019 Scott Helt Memorial Best Paper Published in the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting.

- Involved as a researcher in several competitive funded public projects and IP in several I+D+I research projects directly requested by industrial partnership.

- Awarded with Extraordinary Doctoral mention from UPV/EHU.



Since 2012, he has been actively involved in the development of the LDM (Layer Division Multiplexing) technology, which has been included in the ATSC 3.0 standard. Recently, he has also been involved in the development of signal processing algorithms for improving the URLLC physical layer reliability in 5G and industry automation.
