Ph.D. in Telecommunication Engineering (2008) and associate professor since 1998 at the UPV/EHU, both in the Grade in Telecommunications Technology Engineering and in the Master Degree in Space Science and Technology, he teaches on Radar technology, Global Navigation Satellite Systems and Satellite communications.

His research work is focused on the analysis of the signal propagation in different environments, and mainly, on the study of how different types of disturbances affect the quality of the data transmission. In particular, he has analysed the impact of wind farms on radars and other transmission technologies, and within the area of Smart Grids, he researches on the characterization of the electrical grid as a propagation medium for data transmission, and on the effects of noise and interfering emissions on the Smart Grid communications.

He has been head researcher by UPV/EHU of competitive research projects funded by European (3), national (1) and regional calls (7), and participant researcher of 25 research projects funded by national and regional entities.

His research activity has been very close to the industry, leading 30 projects for technology transfer to European and American companies of 8 different countries, and participant researcher of other 25 projects.
