Olga Peñagarikano obtained her PhD from UPV/EHU in the field of Human Genetics, working on Fragile X syndrome, a common form of intellectual disability, and the most common genetic form of autism. She followed a two-stage postdoctoral training in Neuroscience and Behavioural Genetics at Emory University (Atlanta, USA) and UCLA (Los Angeles, USA). She has been awarded numerous honours including the Top 10 Autism Research Achievements and the NARSAD Brain and Behavior Young Investigator award. She is a research group leader at the Department of Pharmacology (UPV/EHU) working on translational research on autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders. She is Principal Investigator of National and International projects. She teaches at Master’s and Doctorate’s levels in the programs of Pharmacology, Neuroscience and Molecular Biology and Biomedicine.
