Esther Rebato is a full professor in the area of Physical Anthropology at the University of the Basque Country. She has the A1 level by the UNIBASQ agency, six periods of six years in research from CNEAI and has held several university management positions including: President (2012-2014), General Treasurer (2000-2012), Adjunct Treasurer (2014-2019) of the European Anthropological Association, and President (2011-2019). She is the Editor of the Spanish Journal of Physical Anthropology. In 2009, she was awarded with the Alex Hrdlièka Academic Medal from the Czech Anthropological Society (Prague-Humpolec), and the EAA Medal as Honorary Member.
She is a member of the editorial committee of 13 journals and evaluator of research projects for 11 national and international agencies. She has published more than 150 scientific articles (84 JCR), 15 research book chapters and 35 teaching chapters. She has directed 10 doctoral theses with grants from different organisations (UPV/EHU, GV, MEC, Diputación Foral de Bizkaia), 4 of them with international mention, and she as participated in 55 projects, grants and/or research contracts (33 as leader). orcid.org/0000-0003-1221-8501.
